10.14.05-- How do you say, "I'm going to chuck." in Korean?

Man! I can't ride on that bus any more. On the ride back and forth from the Hyundai factory I was really going to throw up. I don't know if it is the bus, the bus driver, or the nature of traffic in Korea, but it was like the most herky jerky ride ever. I got off the bus at the end of the day and really just had it. Couldn't deal anymore, was ready to barf.

Yesterday was a pretty no frills day. We went to two places, the Blue House (the Korean equivalent to the "White House" ). Man! That president is living large. The place was recently built in 1991, and it's hooked up. The grounds are kept up so well. The buildings are amazing.

Unfortunately, I don't have many pictures today because both places we went to had limited places where we could take photos. the first place was super high security. They had three guards and this guy below showing us around. We had to walk in two lines like school children.

My friend Helena wrote me and said, "the Korean guys there aren't as cute." Au Contraire. Au Contraire I say.

concubine house

Here is a 400 year house where a concubine who became a queen, then was demoted (because of political turmoil) stayed. She has special columns around her house that are rounded. Back then, if the King couldn't produce a son with a queen, he had to have one with the concubine. Nice.

palace

Here we are at the restricted photo area #2. This is where the president holds special events. Inside the ballroom is one single piece of carpet. Those stone columns that hold up the building are like 60 tons each and made from one piece of stone.

Lunch in Korea is as Healthy and Delicicious as Lunch in America! YEE HAW!

WOW! Just like in America! bulgogi burgers

I haven't eating at McDonalds in years, so as you can imagine I was thrilled up the wazoos when our hosts dropped us off at Mickey D's for a taste of home. YEE HAW! Home of the greatest food in the world. YES SIR!!!! And in Korea, it was three times as delicious!

I was thrilled to be biting into those fries again after a two year hiatus! I could eat there everyday! Screw Korean food, give me the fish o filet! In fact, just move me into McDonalds!

estatic

I'm loving it!

The Hyundai Factory

import this!

Before I became this ultra progressive activist, I was an import model. Here I am reliving my glory days in the Hyundai showroom.

hello hello

We could only take pics of the Hyundai factory in the showroom and outside. Here is the fella who did the tour. I thought he was cute like my boyfriend with his dimples and slick Korean features so I took a picture with him.

The factory was a trip. All the cars they were making were pre-ordered. They make a car every 57 seconds. The machines are straight out of Star Wars. I can't even describe how amazing these machines were. But it definitely didn't make me envious of factory workers. They get paid well here, but it's such monotonous work.

The air outside the factory smelled sweet and like paint. The surrounding area of the factory is rice fields and is very rural looking.

After Dinner

After dinner, I went shopping around Insadong where our hotel is. I put a jacket up to me and the shopgirls were like, "No! Too small!" Funny how quick people here are to tell you what a fatty you are.

Here's a mini movie of some girls, who couldn't have been more than 8-years old crossing the street. I thought they were so cute. I had to film them. The girls here hold hands so much.

More tomorrow!

Love,

Kristina
