She's already sent this form letter apology to all sorts of people who've written in and complained. I could let it go but....it was too easy, so I wrote back. I swear I should just have a gaggle of these letters ready to go when something like this comes up again in two weeks.

My letter..

Dearest Cheryl,

I am so sorry you are receiving so many letters from people who disagree with you about your casting call for "beautiful Asian women." As a beautiful Asian woman myself, I think that it was a marvelous idea. Using Asian American women (and not men, because there were no men in Ancient Japanese villages, women back then procreated without men) to dress up an after party. What a better use of my time and beauty! The opportunity I have been waiting for my whole life! Finally my Asian genetics will be put to use and appreciated the way I've always dreamed they could as a child. Playing "ambience" at a movie opening! My grandmother who traveled here by boat from China is already crying in heaven-- so proud!

I am not authentic "Japanese"-- but "Chinese". I sure am glad that you overlooked the "Japanese" part of it for this casting call and opened this up to all "beautiful Asian women". After all, I know so many beautiful dark skinned Pilipinos, Indonesians, and Thai women whose slanty eyes and dark hair would be enough to "pass" for your standards of "Japanese villagers" to create an authentic ancient Japanese village... at an after party.

The best part is that you wouldn't pay women like me to participate. And why wouldn't we want to be paid anyway? After all, we get to dress up like living stereotypes, perpetuate western fantasies about modern day geishas, walk around in uncomfortable costumes, and maybe... just maybe get to glimpse Tom Cruise. Maybe he'll push me aside on the red carpet as he talks to the press! Can you imagine? Just maybe!

Maybe Tom will discover me for his next film!!! And then we'll get married! This is my big break!

And the costume department will dress me in costumes? Like the stars? WOW! Can you imagine, maybe I will get to wear a costume that some up and coming background extra wore! When I watch this movie, I will have to scan the hundreds of costumes worn by the background and when I spot the costume I was wearing at the opening will scream aloud, "I wore that confining piece of shit costume at the opening of this movie! WOO! I'm famous!"

Interesting too, how in all your form "cut and paste" letters of apologies that are being forwarded around, you went from being an "Entertainment Producer" to "Freelancer" in one day. I guess I would do that too if I made such a grave mistake and didn't want these angry Asian people to try to get me fired. Smart move. Beautiful smart women like us think alike!

Anyway, would love to be considered for a role. Since I am so beautiful, I demand to be cast as "Beautiful Ancient Japanese Villager #1". Anything else is bullshit.

Kisses, love, and thanks for an opportunity to maybe... just maybe stand close to Tom Cruise... or even the A.D... or the caterer...oooh! I could get discovered! I should schedule a facial now!

Love,

Kristina "Beautiful Ancient Japanese Villager #1" Wong
